Black Hoof Toronto- December 20, 2010

I have to warn you that this post only contains meat.

After trying the Hoof cafe, I decided I had to give the original Black Hoof a shot. My other Foodie friend finally came back from HK became my partner in crime. While I started off with the refreshing Margarita and she tried nice gin based cocktail.

Loving the Hoof's bone marrow, I could resist ordering here too. This time it was a smaller portion and not as good but did satisfy.

The large Charcuterie called my name. Some of meats were sublime and others were not to my taste. I did ask if I could buy to go but NO Takeouts allowed.

Tongue on Brioche- I LOVED it. I admit I have always been scared to eat Tongue but I knew I had to get over that quickly for the Hoof. I was so glad i did and plan to eat this dish again.

This was my safe dish- Duck Liver Ravioli. All I can say is yum.

To finish a meat lover's dessert: Seared Foie Gras on Blood Cake with an Egg Nog smear. I wanted to order this dish again and again. Anything with the word blood kind of scared me but once again I had to try. So glad I did.

Pros:
1) The use of meat in some many unusual and tasty ways
2) The presentation of dishes like the Foie Gras
3) Range is prices from $14 per dish to $26

Cons:
1) They don't take credit card
2) No reservations
3) A restaurant that is dark, loud and crowded

Verdict: As I am writing this I am looking forward to once again enjoying a wonderful meal at Black Hoof this coming Friday. Let's See what they changed and if they can top that yummy experience.
