Senses Winterlicious- February 8, 2011

The final restaurant of my winterlicious season. This evening was to celebrate one of my friend's upcoming birthdays. Patrick Lin did not disappoint and even agreed to a brief photo op.

One of my friends chose the mushroom soup with yummy olive oil on top. This dish was beautiful and similarly presented to a soup we had during our Langdon Hall adventure last year.

Knowing my love for truffles, I had to chose the lobster with cucumber relish and truffle mayo. I loved the relish, it was refreshing and asian style. The mayo was complex without being too heavy or grease.

After eating our main courses we finally got our drinks:

My choice was a pear martini with apple flavour- beautiful flavour.

One friend chose Sinful- a strawberry martini drink which was actually a bit tart but pleasant to drink.

Pomegranate Mojito- This drink was just okay but we all weren't sure the pomegranate worked.

Main course: Crispy Duck leg confit on seared tofu with winter vegetable ragout. The duck and seared tofu were outstanding. The only problem with the dish was the vegetable- I found this too crisp for my taste.

The other main course we ordered was the Lamb chop and lamb with stuffed goat cheese, fingerling potatoes and sweet onion confit. We all loved this dish- every part of it.

Desserts: I decided to try the mini panna cotta: Raspberry, Vanilla and Passionfruit. This was a thick style but tasty. My favourite was the raspberry.

My one friend chose the green tea and coconut tiramisu- this dish was not what any of us were expecting. This was almost like a mousse made with mascarpone and a hint of green tea. Not a favourite dish and something I would suggest not to chose.

My other friend chose the warm bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. A very large portion and nice dish.

Finally a not edible dish but a picture with Chef Patrick Lin. We were very happy to meet the man behind our great food and a wonderful way to finish off our evening.

Pros:
1) Beautiful Atmosphere
2/) Great Waitstaff
3) Wonderful food

Cons:
1) Only the green tea dessert- this was our only disappointment of the evening
2) Expensive parking- $30 at the SOHO

Verdict: Another Winterlicious restaurant we will have to go to again. Next time perhaps to try their tasting menu.
