Mildred Temple KItchen Winterlicious- February 3, 2011

As mentioned before, winterlicious is a good opportunity to try some new restaurants. Instead of my usual foodie friends, I visited with my family.

Our menu that Evening:

A yummy chilled Apple Cider cocktail with bourbon. A strong drink for either male or female.

A tiny scone made with cheese and thyme. Sadly, they want $2 more for another one. Almost, as good as the Red Lobster ones but less greasy.

Gnudi made with swiss chard and field mushroom. I am in love with this dish and so sad it was ordered by both my parents. Next time I want a double order of this one.

Sweet Potato Soup with Chili, glazed pear and creme fraiche. This dish was okay and nice for a casual meal however it could compare to the gnudi.

The hanger steak with cornmeal onion rings. I did get to try the the steak, though my dad enjoyed it. The onion rings were crispy and would love to see it at my favourite fast food joints.

My main course: Pan seared pickerel with smoked mushrooms, parsley root puree and leek sauce. The fish was perfectly done however it was the weakest part of this dish. The mushrooms tasted like great bacon and made me decide I have to start smoking things at home. I loved the leek sauce and the puree texture was a good complement for the sauce.

DESSERT: MILDRED TEMPLE your desserts are delicious.

1) Apple beignets with vanilla ice cream. Perfectly fried beignets with a hint of lemon flavour. YUM!

2) Profiteroles stuffed with Lindt ice cream and chocolate and carmel sauce on top. My mother's favourite dish, however this dish can be really filling. A good dish for any chocolate lover.

3) The chocolate brioche bread pudding with cherries and espresso anglaise. A perfect dish with just the right bit of everything. This dish is also filling but a great dish to share.

Pros:
1) The food was amazing
2) drinks were yummy and reasonable price
3) good light and space between the tables
4) modern design- with coed washrooms

Cons:
1) Not in the downtown core- Liberty Village
2) Go Train goes by every 30mins
3) extra charge for another scone- $2 per scone

Verdict: I will go again and also want to try their brunch
